Chickens have head mites

Found mites on two of my chickens (both Sussex breeds) ear lobes and waddles. How would I go about curing it? If I have to buy a product to clean it what should I buy?

They are stick tight fleas. Permethrin works best, there are some threads and articles on BYC about them. Good luck...

If they are the stick tight fleas (easy to see, dark brown/black in color whereas mites are teeny tiny and crawl around) I’ve read that applying a layer of petroleum jelly over them does the trick - it cuts off their air supply.
