Chickens have slowed down on laying why?

My chickens have slowed down on laying I used to get about 10 a day now about 4-5. I did take out the golf balls because I thought I didn't need them anymore since they kept laying in there nests. But they started laying in the yard (free range). So I put them back a few days ago but still not getting the eggs 10 eggs a day like I was. We have had storms lately and I have heard light plays a big part on egg laying. Could that be the cause of less eggs? Also, today I just changed there coop and nesting boxes so it all clean and they all had to go in the coop and check it out. Or could the chickens just be going thought a something?

They may still be hiding some in the yard. Any change causes some stress and can affect laying as well.

Well, I added the golf balls back and now leave them locked up till about noon so that they lay in the nesting box. Also, I have seared the yard where they were laying before. But no new eggs out in the yard that I have found.
