I'm relatively new to backyard chickens, having had them for 6 to 8 months. I have 2 Plymouth Rock, 2 Americauna, 2 Rhode Island Red, and 2 Bantam Cochins. They're in a really nice 6'x12' coop with daily access to a fenced area for running around and rolling in the dust. They get plenty of food and fresh water, and all are laying steadily. I'm 6 to 8 eggs per day. They all look happy and healthy, except the 2 Rhode Island Red have been looking scraggly. They both having thin feathers on their breast area and back rear half. Could I have mites just bothering those 2? Or is it a little crowded and they're stressed and plucking feathers? I have pics if anybody has any thoughts. Any help appreciated.
