My wife wants to put some of my chickens in the garden. We live where there are alot of predators(mainly at night). Garden is on one side of our 5 acres chickens on the other.
Would it hurt by taken a couple out of their pen and move to garden?
Can they stay in full sun or do they need shade?
    Any suggestions...

I will try to answer as best I can.
    Chickens need shade.
Chickens will also demolish the garden plants if not by eating them then by scratching near the roots.
If you put a few in the garden how will the others take it when you try to put them back in the main coop come fall? (I know most do not like anyone joining even if they knew them before.)
With predator issues they would have to have a proper shelter at night.
Is there a "lid" on the garden to keep them in? If not you may find them all right back at the door to the coop you took them out of.
