I have a chicken living in my kitchen. I have a dog crate but she rarely goes in it. The door holds her food and water. I did make a perch for her. It's about 2" off the ground. I also have a big disposable pad that she walks around on. Saves clean up. She does wonder around the kitchen floor at times. Can be a pain.
She got sick in Aug. I found her the day I came home from surgery. She was practically dead. I expected her to die. Well, she didn't. She continued to live in the kitchen and did get very sick a couple more times. She is still alive. I don't think this chicken can die. At this point there is no reason why this chicken can still be a live. Honestly, she is a very lucky girl. We tolerate her just fine, she talks to you and will even try to mosey over to the dogs bowl to eat. She can't really see and is not accustomed to the cold weather at this point. I don't know how I will get her to live outside again. She doesn't do well if she is alone. That's when she gets very sick, it seems.
Ok, this is an older picture. Before I made the perch. I took this picture because I told my very young nephew about the chicken (Nellie) that lives in my kitchen and that she had pooped. He didn't believe me when I was on the phone with him so I sent a picture. Yes, for some reason it went over very well. Needless to say she has an adult disposible bed pad under her instead of the puppy pads. The dogs don't mind her at all.
