Would it hurt them to stay in the house if they never get big enough to go outside? I'm worried that they won't get used to the heat here as they are to small to go outside. And I'm not sure of what breed they are.plus they seem really close to us.

this is them at 7 weeks.
if so how big of cage would I need?

The breed doesn't matter. They're still chickens. They need to be outside and do chicken things. They will grow up. People raise chickens in much hotter climates than N. Carolina. Chickens live in every country on the planet.

Chickens are outdoor animals, not indoor pets. The heat in NC is not too hot as long as you provide shade and ventilation. They need to have access to grass and bugs and worms.

Check out the coop section of this forum, there are so many fun ideas for coops & runs. They will be safe from predators, your house will be cleaner and your chickens happier.
