Aww! All these pictures are so cute! I got my 3 girls as 18 weekers, and I'm guessing they weren't handled much. They hate me, but I love them, lol. In spring I plan to get some chicks and then sell the older girls. Maybe that will help the bond.lol

Ha! Great pic.

I figured mine couldn't be the only ones, and it appears that it is not as uncommon as I thought.

Love the pic and thanks for the response. Too cute.

Wow! Look at that.

It's adorable and amazing. Who would have thought chickens could be so affectionate.

That is not stupid behavior. They know you and respond to you. They feel safe with you and want to share
those feelings.

Truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing all the pics.

I have seven chicks that are 6 weeks old now, and have gotten proficient at flying short hops. My RIR decided she want to fly to me (she's very friendly for a chick this age) last night, and when I put my hand out, she flew up to it and perched. This group of chicks is much friendlier than the first bunch I had last year. I have four of them left and they are out in the big girls coop. The newbies will be joining them later when they are a bit bigger. My big hens lost their rooster two months ago, so I have reverted to being the rooster. They have been squatting for me when they used to only do that for the rooster!

Yes ,, my friend has come over and made the coop fox proof and the girls (3) now get locked in there from dusk till daylight... we have also fenced off the big compound they used to roam in and now they just have the area that I can see from the front door and windows... I have giant pinwheels along said fencing and always have washing on the line which is where they roam... if I need to go out I put the radio by the open window and play music at full blast (the beauty of isolation)....I also put my five dogs poo's at the point in the fencing where I think the fox got in and have asked my nearest neighbour to come by in the evening and pee at the same place.... can't think of any more I can do.... here in Spain it's illegal to do electric fences and also to kill wildlife outside of hunting season which doesn't start till Nov.

Hi Doris,

Well, it sounds like you've done what you can. Predators will always try to get your chickens, no matter what you do. So, the reinforced coop is probably the best thing. Do you live in Spain as in Europe? I've lived overseas, just never in the European countries.
