Chickens just starting to lay eggs

You are right it is double yoked! 😃. Quite excited about that! And dark yellow yokes, also the eggs are the same color. Should I be concerned that she laid a soft shelled egg yesterday? This was be her 5 th egg to lay.
Congratulations! Double Yokers are like a Christmas Present!! Wahoo!!

Don't be worried about the soft shell but make sure you are providing a bowl of oyster shells.
Her body is still trying to figure things out. She will eat the oyster shells if she needs it.

Your right It is just like a Christmas present! I’ll keep a separate bowl of oyster shells just in case they need it.
Thank you for all the help, it is very much appreciated.

One other thing. She has been laying in the laying box all week, but I've kept her penned up in the coop til she lays (except thursday, she didn't lay an egg). If I let her out before she lays an egg, will she go to her nesting box to lay? or should I keep her penned up until she lays for a bit longer?

Once a pullet starts laying, they will always lay in the same spot unless she has a surprise egg pop out that she wasn't prepared for, especially with her body trying to still figure things out.
When my first batch first starting laying, I kept them confined to the coop and then after a week I let them free range. They would come back to the coop to lay their eggs.
Any new pullets that join the flock watch the older hens and know where the eggs are laid so I don't have to confine them at all to the coop.

Do you free range?
Best to keep them all confined to coop and run until they use the nests regularly.

New layers can stop and go at laying getting their reproductive systems cranked up.
I personally don't give oyster shells to my chickens and I've never had a soft egg shell. I do feed well balanced laying feed so apparently its not needed. Now if I was feeding all flock I would offer it. But you have to take breed into calculation because my silkies can eat all flock and not need oyster shell and they have nice hard eggs. So it's not always a exact science. What is needed for one chicken or chicken keeper may not work for another.
Just keep treats like scratch to a minimum because most issues I see is when to many treats are added and they are not getting enough of a balanced feed. Kinda like if I sat around eating junk food all day expecting my body to be in top condition to produce a healthy outcome. šŸ˜…
Thank you, I'll cut back on the treats for a while.

Thank goodness! I've been keeping her up and letting the others out and would rather let her out with all the others. Hopefully the others will follow her and use the nest box also, when they start laying.
Thank you for all you have taught me today, God Bless you and your family.
