Chickens Just Wandered into My Yard.

Trailer comment was a weak crack at whoever was bashing 'trailer trash' as prime abandoners earlier in thread.

Hah! Well I bit perfectly to support your point. In my little anecdote here, it was someone who was well off who did the abandoning!

They are gorgeous birds!

Thanks! As I've solved the case, they've been hit with the ivermectin tonight, so one step closer to integration. :)

Glad you've got the problem solved and have some hopefully nice new birds.
Good Work!
I have no qualms with anyone who lives in a trailer (I’ve done it myself,) I just struggled to find the right terminology for the kind of person I was talking about. I was making the distinction between general populations of people and should’ve chosen my words better. I was referring to statistics of people in the city probably having access to more rescue groups, not what I think of people. I’m sorry it came across as bashing or a jab at anyone, certainly not my intention.

I came late to this thread but I am so glad they found you. How are they doing? Have you integrated the flocks yet?

I've tried integrating, but 7 of the girls in my original flock are ganging up on one at a time and being quite mean (one will mount a girl while the others peck in a similar fashion to hormonal cockerels ganging up on a hen). The other 6 girls in my original flock are more than happy to wander and scratch in the run together with these 4 new girls.

I have them separated again for the moment but penned right next each other. I've ordered some pinless peepers for the 7 bullies to wear and will try integration again as soon as the peepers arrive.

Bummer!

I know, right! It's savage. I've integrated others birds into the flock with no problems in the past (and as recently as 8 weeks ago).

I'll just wait it out. It had only been a couple of weeks penned next to each other, so probably a bit early anyway. It's all a game of patience with chickens. I have the space and the time to wait. I'd like to have them integrated by the end of July if possible, but if not, c'est la vie.
