Chickens killing chickens

So the only thing I can suggest is putting in things the picked on birds can hide behind or under. Anything that only allows one chicken & that the others cant get to if it's there. Put lots of these hiding things & other obstacles around our coop. Good luck

Could you define "large". You have 40 birds in one pen and 28 in the other. How large are the pens? I also believe the pecking and fighting, which will lead to cannibalism, is a result of being overcrowded and bored. They need more to do than to stare at each other through the fence and dare one another to fly over.

Coop size is 8x8 Out side run is 25' long x 15' wide for 27 birds( old bags)

Young coop 8x8 and outside 10 x10. with more access to free range the yard. As soon as the snow hits they will not leave the coop. Others most have more then one rooster that have no problems . Right now I have 1 main rooster 3 bantee and 6 young roosters. There are no problems as the main guy is separated from the rest. But I have noticed the young ones starting to fight. This is probable normal . Spring will come and I will cull the herd.

An 8x8 coop which they won't leave is way too small for 40 birds - especially if you are introducing new ones into that set up. They will start to kill and eat one another alive.
