So half my hens just started laying about 2 weeks ago and i noticed they are laying at different times. Like an hour or so apart. Is this normal? Or is it just because they all use the same space to lay and only 1 can fit in at a time

They will all lay at different times. Sometimes multiple ones want to lay at the same time so make sure you have enough nests. Even than you may find multiple birds trying to get in the same box as hens like to lay where other hens have laid

It's normal. Most chickens lay early in the day, but I've gotten eggs as late as three in the afternoon. Generally, chickens take twenty-six hours to make the hard shell for the egg, so even the same chicken will not lay at the same time every day.

Yes, it's normal. A chicken that lays an egg at 10 AM today isn't going to lay at 10 AM tomorrow. Generally speaking, chickens are on about a 25-26 hour laying schedule.

I appreciate the info and yea I will need more nesting boxes as they all want to lay in the same one lol
How many birds... and how many nests??
Rule of thumb is 1 nest for every 3-5 birds.
Put a fake egg in all nests to 'spread the love'.
