Chickens laying during winter - Halp I've got too many eggs

Quiche. Frittatas. Lemon Curd and Angel Food cake. Egg Salad. Deviled/Pickled Eggs. as a very southern way of stretching ham salad (which conveniently reduces the overall salt content of the final product). Use it for egg wash as a batter for foods you are baking/frying.

and yes, you can scramble, shells and all, no salt, pepper, butter, or other seasoning, and feed them right back to your birds. Use a non-stick pan, no metal utensils (so as not to damage your non-stick). Or use well seasoned cast iron, and a bit of elbow grease when you are done.

My birds started back up with a bang, and some non-layers started for the first time, night about New Years. We keep about 8 dozen in the fridge at all times now, feed the excess back. Can't donate fast enough. 19 eggs on my "best" day. Now 11 on a low day.

I wish I had this problem. We use 12 a day and are only getting about 2-4 right now. 🤪

I do scramble eggs and feed them to my girls. I throw in shredded cheese sometimes. I have some sea kelp that I bought to mix in their feed and I also have a ton of chick treats that my girls are too old to care about. I'll mix that in too. They gobble it up fast and I think it warms them up in the cold. I have 12 and usually scramble 4 eggs for them but they'd eat more if I offered it. If you have a lot of extras, I am sure the ladies would be happy to help you use them.

Giving away eggs to people in need is a great idea! In winter you might be able to just put them in a container outside to give to people but they might freeze too. I hope your family can get its act together and have some meals with u, that's kinda sad :( But I'm sure if you said free eggs on a sign or on craigslist people would come for them. And giving to friends and neighbors is safer and I'm sure they'll appreciate it. Also, if you are worried your hens are using up too much clacium and protein you can give the eggs back to them. We used to let ours have a whole egg cracked on the ground raw, they never got sick or anything but this might be bad for them. You can always make scrambled eggs like others have said, and give them the shells seperate. Hens who are laying can always use extra calcium
