Hey everyone. Has anyone experienced chickens leaving you "trinkets"? I know that this happens in crows/ravens and hookbills, but I've never heard of this in chickens.

Background:

My grandpa has TONS of fancy rocks in his back yard thanks to my uncle. Mostly they are just a little sparkly, and most are buried. I often play in them as the chickens follow. (It's hilarious I assure you) I started noticing very specific "fancy rocks" in weird places. I thought nothing of it, just a weird coincidence. But the other day, I lifted the water dishes and there was nothing there. With the rocks I've been finding they are WHITE and SUPER sparkly. You can't miss them.

I came back to put the water there and there one was. Just waiting there.

I know it's probably a long shot, but it seems to be too much of a coincidence at this point. I found another one two days after I loosened the soil in their favorite bedding spot. Layed right on top of the dirt next to it when it wasn't there the night before.

Maybe I'm seeing things, but I want to hear if others have experienced this.

TL;DR - My grandpa's chickens are probably weird.

Chances are the rock was kicked by you or scratched by the chickens into the place you found it.

Our yard really isn't so that it's common for that to happen. I live in the desert and the yard is flat, compacted dirt. These rocks are not regular native rocks, they are in piles in various corners of the yard, even parts where the chickens can't go. That's why I thought about this, and discounted it. I would have noticed these bright white sparkly rocks. I found one in with the other rocks and these spots aren't close enough.

My other thought is we get a lot of crows and other birds. So I don't know. I'm honestly just curious if anyone has had chickens bring them gifts.
