My hen started limping about three weeks ago and it turned out that her foot had cracked we found this out from a neighbor who also gave us some antibiotics we did just like she told us and even put her in a dog cage in the house. After the first few treatments it didn't seem to pain her. Last Sunday I had to put her back in the coop because she was going crazy in the cage but her leg appears to be dead its stiff and she won't walk on it. She is alone in her house as the rest of my flock passed this winter I think she is a black austrlope and maby 5 or 6. What can I do to make her life easier I know she is old but she is happy and it's not an option to kill her please help!!!

Sorry to hear your hen got handicapped and is unable to walk. :hugs
Maybe its best to put her in your lap for a while, every day, as long as she has.
I dont know if adding new chickens is okay, bc she can’t defend herself. I only had an injured hen who healed. No experience with a truly handicapped hen.

Sorry about your lame hen and all of your losses. Do you know how she was injured, or was it frostbite? It is unusual to lose all of your chickens since you just got them as chicks in the past year. If I were you, since you are very young, I would get a chicken handbook, or study the pages here in the learning center in the Forum at the top of the page. Just scroll down and there are a ton of articles about how to raise them and house them and keep them safe. Frostbite may be a problem in your area, and there are articles about ventilation, protection from predators, diseases, etc. When you learn as much as you can, then try again with healthy chicks from a hatchery. Good luck.
