Hugging my chicken in Southern N.E.
Hello, my 3.5 year old BO's feet stopped moving around and she can't stand or sit up on her own. She makes clear efforts to try and get up but can't. I helped her sit but her body is in a weird position and doesn't bend down to meet her legs (hard to visualize but her legs are down as they would be when sitting but her body is weirdly upright).

She has been battling illness for a few weeks now but has got her appetite back and will eat and drink. Not sure about poop since she has been sitting so much but a few days back it was very liquidy. She has been vaccinated for Mareks when a baby and she's not that young so I doubt it is that.

She's gone through many phases and I really just want my poor little baby to get better!

She got some Amoxicillin the other day and has been eating dry corn (won't touch pellet food) that has a nutritional powder on it. She also gobbles up oatmeal we have been giving her and will drink water. Today it was just normal water but other days it has been with added vitamins, probiotics, or Gatorade for electrolytes. PLEASE HELP ME HELP HER GET BETTER!!!

Her legs will move but feet don't. Her feet have been very cold but then again its been 35 degrees out. She's been "sitting" in this 3 walled box on one of her sides and her eyes look good. Her face is a little pale and her comb kind of darkish reddish purple and flopped over. We have been giving her a heating pad near her feet a few times a day to keep her warmer.

Note: This is my only chicken and sorry for the long post.

Poor girl, I’m so sorry this is happening to your only bird. Unfortunately it does sound like mareks. But it could also be a vitamin deficiency. Praying that that’s what it is. :hugs

Wondering if it could be neurological. I agree a vitamin definciency is a possibility. I think vitamins should have roliboflavin and I’ve heard people mention selenium, which I think is in sunflower seeds.
The bluish comb sounds like lack of oxygen. Is her breathing fine? How is her crop? Empty in the morning? Does her breast feel bony? Does her abdomen feel. squishy? Can you get a fecal float done in case worms are stealing her nutrients?
I know. So many questions and not necessarily all related to each other. Please get back to us with more information. Good luck!
