Chickens losing feathers

Hi, I have three Road Island Red chickens that have been losing their feathers all summer long. I have tried a powder that is supposed to kill mites and I have powder them once a week. I doesn't seem to work. I have been giving them feather fixer food which doesn't seem to work. With colder weather coming soon I am at a loss what to do. Does anyone have any ideas? How old are your chickens? Are they losing feathers in any particular area? Are new feathers growing back?

I ask because chickens over a year old do molt annually. This allows them to shed the old feathers and grow new ones that will be better equipped to keep them warm in winter. It typically takes 8-12 weeks for a molt.

It does sound as if they are going through a normal molt.
