I have 2 hens and 1 chick that went MIA this week.

No sign of anything. I do free range, and some of my hens have babies. I had one hen that was missing for about a month but then showed back up.

About 10:15 pm tonight I opened my door to find someone standing in my yard with a flashlight. They took off and I locked my door. Now im starting to wonder if someone that lives around me could have had the hen that came back. What do y'all think? Someone taking chickens or a animal?

Sounds like someone is stealing your birds. Call the cops and have them make out a report that someone is stealing your "Livestock". It used to be a hanging offense, but today it still carries a lot of jail time. A couple of years ago in the local news, a guy got 20 years for stealing livestock, 5 chickens and 2 piglets!
If you see someone in your yard again at night without knocking first, fire a couple shots in the air, then call the cops!

Hi, sorry what you have gone through, i agree with others. Did you know
the person with flashlight, ??? hope you do not live alone either. Like others
have said, report it to the police, in case he/she comes back. Maybe it is that
person, who has your hens + chick. And if they had found them, why did they not speak to you. Sounds dodgy to me, please be careful, and report it. Just to be safe and
they are taking your hens, you will be covered with the police as they will say, why
did"nt you report them. Also hope your girls will be safe, good luck, and keep us
all updated. :love

Thanks everyone.

I didn't know who it was in my yard. I didn't stay out there long enough to find out lol. When I seen the flashlight they seen me to. They pointed the flashlight to the ground. I could tell they had on shorts because I could see their legs. I called my mother in-law that lives next to me and her husband went outside but who ever it was took off. I did talk to a officer, and they will be making round out this was now.

I have one pen that stays open and one pen that has a lock on it at all times. Nothing is missing from the one that stays locked. My other birds are on the yard right now so I don't know if any are missing at this time. I will be putting up a cam today. I will keep y'all posted!
