We have had our chickens for two years, they were laying pretty well; they roamed freely in the back yard. Six months ago we made a smaller pen for them and since then they have not laid one egg. Is there anything we can do? There are five of them and only four them layed regularly before. I feed them layena with some scratch mixed in with flax and oyster shell, I give them black oil sunflower seeds and fresh salad. They have water. It is shaded where their pen is, but it has been very warm, we live in Los Angeles.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

They are getting older so production will drop off. Most lay the best for 2-3 seasons.

What's the protein on your ration? Most layer rations are 16% protein which is minimum daily requirements. Feeding all that extra stuff daily will dilute the daily intake enough to affect production. Layer is formulated to be fed as the sole ration to actively laying hens. I recommend switching to a non medicated starter grower or an All Flock ration with a separate bowl of oyster shells for the calcium needs.

Your hens are also probably getting ready to molt if they haven't started already. Production stops during the molt and it can take a few months for hens to recover and begin laying again.
