chickens not laying

I bought 2 one year old chickens from a lady about 10 days ago. One is a Barnevelder and the other is a brahma/Barnevelder mix. They are not laying. They use their hen boxes as a bathroom. Yesterday I put balls in them in an effort to detour this behavior. This morning they only pooped in one. But still no eggs. Are They traumatized? Stressed? Or did I get ripped off?

They are likely stressed from the move, chickens don't like change. Close off one of the nest boxes and leave the one with the balls in it open. If they try to sleep in it tonight, remove them and put them on the roost. Do that every night when you close up until they start roosting on their own

Thank you. I have 4 boxes so I just left balls in half tonight. They were both on their roosting bar when I locked them up.

Give them some time, once they settle in I'm sure they'll come round
