Why aren’t my chickens laying?

I have 5 chickens. My Rhode Island red and black copper Maran are laying pretty much everyday, but my barnevelder, buff brahma and splash Americana have not started laying. The chickens were born in April. Is that normal? We live in Maryland.

Yes that’s pretty normal. Many can take up to 7-8 months to lay.

It’s also winter and daylight hours are dwindling. I’m sure you’ll see them lay eggs once daylight starts to increase again.

You could add some lights if you really want them to lay, otherwise, probably not until February.
