Chickens on corid. Can eggs be eaten?

After recent bad rain I had a pullet acting down. Last time this happened a few months ago it was because I had a bad BAD case of cocci. So I started a treatment on corid yesterday. I only have one bird laying at the moment. Should I be tossing her eggs or can I eat them? How long should I wait to eat her eggs again if I should?

Hi! Sorry if I am dense! LOL!!! I have just been reading on corid and have seen many opinions. Are you saying that I can eat the eggs DURING their treatment as well? I am really hoping that is what I am understanding!!!

Birds with cocci are usually sick and dont lay eggs. That said, if corid were an antibiotic most likely there would be a withdrawal period. Corid is not an antibiotic, it's a thiamine blocker... no withdrawal period. If you decide to toss the eggs in the garbage, that's your choice.

YAY! Thank you so much!!!

I had 2 very sick babies (only 8 weeks old) with blood in their stool. One of them was severely dehydrated and couldn't walk. Bless her heart, she was trying so hard to stand and would just fall over. This happened so quickly, she looked fine the day before. So I immediately brought her inside with me and gave her water with a syringe with save a chick while I fervently looked on this site for what could possibly be wrong.

I then went to TSC immediately and started giving her corid per this forum's suggestion and they started getting better within hours!!!! Neither of them have blood in their stool anymore . YAY!! The one that was the sickest still isn't back to "par" yet, but I am hopeful as she seems to be steadily getting stronger. She is eating while standing up now and the color has come back to her wattle and comb. (It was pastey white 36 hours ago.) She is still off balance and weak after a day 1/2 of corid......I am praying that she fully recovers!! She is such a sweet girl!

Others on this forum sugested that all of the birds be treated so I started putting the corid in all of their water to make sure they didn't get sick. After I had done that, it hit me that maybe I shouldn't eat the eggs. So I started searching this forum for information.

AND I am sooooo excited that the eggs are not harmful!
