Chickens! Our West Austin coop build - Lots of photos!

I may be talking to myself here but I have updates! Is the paint color scaring everyone off? :)

The biggest one probably is that our chickens are finally out of our bathroom which means that the coop sans run has been finished for the most part minus some trim.

Here it is in current form. I ordered the roof from a local supplier Mueller that I have had great results with. Compared to the off-the-shelf panels it is better quality (26 ga instead of 29 or 30), looks better and can be ordered pre-cut to length which is incredibly nice. On top of that, compared to the big box stores it might have only been 25% more which to me was more than worth it. My house has the same roofing so now they match :) The run will have it too.

View of the hardware cloth'd windows. They are fastened with lath screws and I will trim them out for extra security and better looks when I finish the framing for the run.

Here is a view of the soffit ends. I didn't want to just tack the wire over the studs so I bent the edge up 2" and cut it around each stud. Took a bit longer but I think it looks a lot cleaner.

And one of my favorite sights: The chickens in their new home! The PDZ is working well but they arent using their roost all that much yet. I need to add a second as they get bigger. The pipe feeder will probably stay that size for the interior and I will make another larger one for the run. I have all the equipment for a bucket-nipple watering system but I need to wait until the run has been built.

And just because...a family portrait!

I'm sure we will have more soon.

Thanks all! I need to update the progress soon but life has been hectic. We have all the framing up for the covered run. Now it is just a matter of getting things painted, screened, and the roof on!

The girls are doing well. Bit "cooped up" but getting bigger by the day.

Finally an update! It took awhile to get the run up due to only getting to take half-days here and there for the past week but finally our chickens have a lot more room! We used painted treated lumber next to the ground for when we decide to fill the run with sand. The entire run has a mesh skirt all the way around to prevent digging creatures.

Overall we (girls included) are quite happy!

The coop and run "compound" The white tube inside the run is a 4" PVC vertical feeder with a 'T" at the bottom and two feeding areas.

Wonky-shaped door, gangplank, and our Pullet-shut.

Must be the guard on duty!

Thanks for looking!
