Hello,
We are new "parents" of 6 pheasants and 5 EasterEgger chickens. Soon we will be introducing our 5 chickens with our pheasants. We are planning on placing the chickens in large wire dog crates (with food and water, obviously) so the pheasants can become accustomed to the chickens for at least 2 to 3 days. Is this a good way of introducing the chickens? The coop is 8' X 15' and we have two red heat lamps to keep the coop at least 45 degrees F. during the cold winter. I look forward to reading your words of wisdom on this issue.

Glad you decided to join us.

Sorry, no experience with pheasants but sounds interesting.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I really don't have any experience with pheasants either, however I know that when mixing chickens into a chicken flock, the birds should be kept separate in a cage within the flock for nearly 1 month to prevent injury and chaos. You might want to ask this question in our pheasants section for more help with this...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/50/pheasants-and-partridge-chukar

Enjoy your new flock and welcome to ours!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about pheasants (never had any), but definitely post on our pheasant link that TwoCrows has left you with and take advantage of our pheasant experts there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
