Hello!!
I'm Koey and I'm a University student majoring in music. I also am fortunate enough to have a mom who allowed my sister to bring home 2 fluffy chicks a few years ago and have since hatched 10 healthy, happy chickens as well as acquired 3 silver pheasants and currently have 9 bobwhite quails. And a mystery baby.
All of our chickens are "Easter Eggers," or mixed breed chickens heavily carrying Americauna ancestry. We don't know for sure what they are. We have the mother (named Wyoming) and 9 of her babies (Matilda, Pip, Kreugeney, Jackie, Hyde, Fez, Roo, Poseidon and Artemis)!
I was given the three silver pheasants from a friend of my mom's who knew I desperately wanted to start learning more about raising different birds. I have 2 females (Eli and Astrid) and a male, Astor (my avatar image!).
The bobwhites are a result of having pet-sat a friend's birds for a month. Because of her deed restrictions and an unhappy neighbor, she allowed us to keep her birds.
Finally, my "Mystery baby," was a "quail" someone found. A cat had already killed the mother and all of the other chicks and this baby was all who was left. A friend of my mom's heard about it and asked if I wanted it. Of course I said yes! I did look up every different wild quail species here in Florida, but she doesn't resemble any of them. I thought she looked more like a partridge. The owners of the bobwhites said she could be a juvenile bobwhite but they were also unsure.

Not the best picture. I named her Cricket
She's pretty quiet, but will stand up tall and shiver as she lets out a loud call. I've not heard the sound she makes before.
Thank you for reading and I hope to learn much more about our chickens and all birds here!!
