Chickens raised on egg farms...

I'm not sure of the correct terminology but the chickens on the farms used to lay eggs for selling to the grocery stores...... what do they do with them when they are finished with them? You can pm me if you know the answer and feel it would be too graphic.

I am just wondering if they ever auction them off. They should be able to lay an egg 2 or 3 times a week, right?
 
They're called battery hens - what happens to them varies quite a bit from one factory farm to the next. There is a growing movement geared towards battery hen rescue these days....and the specifics of that varies from one place to the other too.
