Chickens roosting in tree every night

In March, one of my hens hatched some babies. They don't want to be with her anymore, so they have their own coop at the moment. One day, one of the roosters decided he wanted to sleep in the tree, so we let him for that night. Then, he and one hen wanted to sleep in the tree, so we let them both do it, but the next few days, we always got them out and put them back in the coop. Now, all five hens and two roosters go in the tree every single night. Only two of them have ever spent an entire night out there, and we put them all back every night, so I don't know why they are still doing this. It getting annoying! Any tips?

Close them up in their coop and run for a couple weeks so that they can form good habits to replace the bad habit of roosting in the trees.

I would, but there coop is not attached to a run and it is too small for them right now.

You may be forced to cut the tree if cutting lower branches won't help.Perhaps they need more room than the coop gives them.Can you make it bigger?

They are sleeping in the tree because that is natural to chickens. They are more likely to do it if conditions in the coop are not favorable (too hot, too crowded, pecking order issues, not enough ventilation, etc). Mine spent half a summer roosting on top of their coop because their coop was too hot inside. I let them and a raccoon almost killed one so I moved them to a secure run and let them sleep out in that all summer while I worked on a bigger coop.

Yeah, it is not their permanent coop

Its impossible to ventilate a small coop well enough in the heat of summer.You might be better off letting them roost in the tree if you don't have a coop big enough for them.

They won't stay in the coop at night if its unsafe unless forced.
