Hello all. I started raising my chicks as most do, in a tote in the kitchen then moved them to a small store bought coop due to lack of time. I then added some lumber and chicken wire to give them some moving around space. It can still be seen in the background in the picture. Last week I picked up the coop my parents built and had chickens in a couple years ago. They had a weasel get in and killed all the chickens over the course of a week. The coop has been empty since. I set this up and they won't go near it. I even put them in to show them food and water was in there. Any suggestions? Is it just they need time to adjust or do they smell the chickens that died a couple years ago? Right now they are standing outside in the rain or under the ramp.

They don't know what home is. Chicks can't tell the difference between a coop and a pick up truck.

They'll always prefer to be outdoors. They need to sleep inside a few nights before they can call it home. I'd lock them in a few days.
