chickens sctraching bedding out..

i just got these chickens about three months ago, they're amazing! though recently they decided to scratch all the straw bedding out of the coop. and now when i put down fresh bedding they scratch it out again. not really sure what to do about this.. they're penned up, and have eaten all available growing grass, so when i'm finished weeding i dump out buckets of greens for them, and they climb on top and spread it around. and now they're doing the same with their bedding..

any thoughts??

Mine did it too. My solution was to put a small board covering one small part of their doorway. It keeps most bedding inside.

Mine do this to the bedding in their nesting boxes! It drives me crazy! And then they lay their eggs right on the nesting box floor and they crack! I think I need a taller board along the front of the boxes and maybe that would help?

They also are always scratching the bark on the ground out to the sides of the coop. Every morning I have to push it back away from the door. Maybe it's just that strong scratching instinct they can't help it, silly girls.
