if i go into my coop and it is somewhat dark the roos attack.. during the day light they are fine.. but sure am glad i had on jeans and boots they were vicious. the girls are fine no matter what. you can hold and pet them.. you would think they would recognize my voice when i talk to the roos but no way.. they want blood.. i literally threw two out the door so i could pet and hold my hens. it was dusk out and a little darker in the coop. so question is can they see in the dark?

Nope. They can't really see in the dark at all.

Your roos are being good boys and trying to defend their girls against an unknown invader.

I always turn on the light outside the coop door and that lets in enough light for the boys to see who is entering their domain.

If I need to tend anyone, I turn on the light inside the coop. The girls always come down to check me out for treats if the light inside the coop is on, but they settle down quickly once it is off again.

I have one rooster who refuses to sleep on the roostHe is the dominant roo. He makes a bed for himself right at the doorway. Without a light, I would actually step on him.
