Just a kiddie pool with a submersible water pump to keep the water circulating. They seem to really love it during this hot weather. I kinda like it too because I'm not refilling their 5gal bucket every day! It was funny though...took them at least a whole day to get used to it and be curious enough to figure out they can drink from it.

That's pretty neat! Just don't get ducks or that pristine clean pool won't look so pristine anymore. :)
Not at all! I'd love to have some ducks but until I get a legit BIG natural spring fed pond...no way. Ducks will make a mess of any small man made water source.

I'm happier just knowing the chicks have ample water anytime they want it. It's dang hot!

So cute! It's like a huge version of the bubble waterer I used to have for my cats inside!

Can I ask one question/add one little nitpick? Have you thought about having a stick in the pool but leaning against the side so that any insects/birds who land can escape? (Maybe the rocks in the pool are close enough to the top of the water level that they serve this function, I can't totally tell from the picture).

Now if you get a picture of the chickens using it I'd love to see that!

Great tip to point out about an escape ramp. I wouldn’t have thought of that…I was going to set up a kiddie pool for my dogs.

When I was little my siblings and I filled up a metal round washtub to play in during the summer. One morning our mom told us that a bird had drowned in the tub, and that it was really important not to leave containers full with water that a bird can't escape.

That guilt has stuck with me all these years, and I've tried to be mindful of it as I provide little "wading pools" and other water sources for my chickens.
