CHICKENS SICK ALL THE TIME, READY TO GIVE UP!

I have wheat straw in run & in coop. Deep litter won't work in coop so I have to change that out quite often. But as for the run, what do I do to make it deep litter? Turn the straw? Any details on how to do it would be great!

Sadly, my chicken with the hurt leg is not getting better. I'm not sure what to do to help her leg heal?? We had not separated her because she was staying in the coop most of the time by the food and water, but today we saw another hen pecking on her & she pecked her ear pretty bad & made it bleed (picture). So now we have separated her, what can we do for her leg & now her bleeding ear??? Or will these heal on their own? Help please!

What are you feeding these birds? Free-range forage can be of very low quality and it shaping up like that is your situation. Isolate bird as Enola indicates then revisit what you are feeding those birds.

I am starting to get the feeling you are not taking situation or advice seriously.

They get plenty to eat!! We feed Purina or DuMor layer or grower/finisher depending on age. Their craws are the size of softballs!! They get feed & free range & get the occasional scratch grains.
I don't see what any of what I said has to do with what they get fed. Injuries & diseases still happen regardless of feed.

Thanks enola. I will clean the wound like you said

Look at the feed closely. What is the run date? How has it been stored?

When you have a whole lot of apparently unrelated populations hitting you chronically then look very closely at nutrition. Stress imposed by poor nutrition can set the stage for all the problems you are having.

I can agree regarding Dumour. Will only use it as a last resort. Also, important is to check the packing date of your feed. One time I was in a store that handles Dumour, and the feed they were selling was over 4 months old.

I know that others have said the same, but I agree, the set up is too tight. 4 s.f. in coop and 10 s.f. in run is a bare minimum for chickens, IMO. Crowded conditions result in aggression and illness.

What are the dimensions of your coop?

When I was first starting out, my coop was two little doghouses pushed together making a coop about 6 by 3. I had like three dozen chicks in it that free ranged. The run was rusty, small, with branches as half the posts and it was about six years old. Looking back I am mortified at what I was doing, but I made my own coops and learned along the way after that.

Ok yall I have YET ANOTHER bad situation going on, woke up this morning to find a 4 month old pullet dead!! She was treated with Corid, so what does this mean?? My husband also saw another pullet the same age have pure diarrhea & he said some other chicken pecked it and it looked like it almost fell over?? These still sound like coccidosis symptoms.. What is going on???
This is so frustrating I don't understand please help!
Both of these birds are not in the small coop I showed in picture they are in a much bigger coop with our older laying hens.
