I have a pond with very steep sides near the top. It has a low fence around it to keep the ducks out of it. Lastnight my dog came running to see what I was doing and startled one of my hens into popping up into the air in panic. The wind caught her just right and blew her right into the middle of the pond. She plunked in and went under then shot up screaming but not high enough to get out. She went down again, lucky for her I happen to have a long handled rake in my hand. I scooped her out and dumped her back over the fence.
She ran off screaming like a banshee and disappeared into the coop. I checked on her a few minutes later and other than being soaked thru and scared half to death she was fine.
The dog just stood there watching with a very confused expression.
