All 6 of my chickens are sleeping in one nesting box at night! is this normal? shouldn't they be roosting on the perches in there? They are not old enough to lay yet, but I worry that if they are all piling into nesting boxes that they won't lay in there.

Chickens do weird things. I have grown hens and couple of them sleep in the nesting boxes which is not good because of poop and gets the eggs messy when they lay eggs during the day.

First bock off the boxes so they can't sleep there. Make sure the perches are higher then the boxes. At some point they will think to sleep on the perches. When they get to POL and are in the habit of sleeping on the roosts, open up the nest boxes. But it is normal for chicks to pile in nests to sleep, but you just don't want them to develop the habit of using the laying boxes to sleep in.
