Hi,
I have a hanging feeder and my chickens spill more food than they eat. How can I keep them from wasting food? Is there a different kind of feeder I can use? Will adjusting the height of the feeder help?

Thanks,
Eric

Raise the feeder so it's level with their back. You can also try a different feed as they might not be crazy about it and are searching for something else. Put a feed pan under the feeder to catch what they bill out.

Thanks, I raised it up. I will find something tomorrow to put under it (that is a good idea).

You could try putting it on a block instead of hanging it. When it hangs, it is easier to whirl and tip it when they beak it out. The pan is a good idea.

Mine were spilling theirs out of the feeder. I switched to a couple of dog bowls and don't have a problem anymore.

I use a kiddie pool. I put long fresh cut grass in the pool everyday to catch poop, then rake the grass out as needed and put the crumbs out on a patch of gravel. Gets them to eat grit and the reclaimed food. Win-win.
