Chickens staying in their house all winter?

My chickens (my older ones and mostly all of my bantams) have been staying inside their house all winter only coming out for a drink or occasionally a stretch. In all the other seasons they're all out and about. Some people thought of the coldness, but it's not that cold here. They shouldn't be bored ether, because they've got a big run and all the rest of my chickens are always out. Please let me know if you have a idea...

It sounds like they are hiding from predators. Do you have hawks or something similar flying about?

Yes we do, although they have never attacked our chickens...
