This isn't much of a question, more of a curious comment, but I have 3 hens, Stevie, Lacy, and Florence. I purchased 12 hatching eggs when Florence got broody, and although I gave them all to her, she would consistently alternate sitting on the eggs with Lacy. Sometimes they would even sit on them together. Last night, our first chick hatched, and quickly, Florence and Lacy took that chick to a different part of the coop and indoctrinated Stevie to sit on the eggs overnight. Then, throughout this morning, Lacy and Florence have been alternating either sitting on the new bird or the eggs while Stevie squawked her heart out anytime I came near! I'd never heard about anything like this before, does anyone have any experience with this? I think it's so cool how they're all working together!
