My 6 chickens roam free throughout the day in my backyard and have dug up all the grass and now it is completely dirt which is expected since they are scavenging by nature. I was wondering if there were any tips or types of grass they seem to not dig up as much since I would like to have at least some grass in my backyard. (I live in Florida also if that helps with finding a type of grass). Thank you

Don't expect anything green to survive where chickens go.

You could portion off areas and reseed them, but they will get destroyed again if you let the chickens at it.

My solution: only keeping bantams and only free ranging when the grass is tall enough to need cropping, then confining them in winter to the run and when the grass gets too short, and not having too many chickens.

The last one is difficult.

If your chickens turned your grass into a desert of dirt, it means you have too many chickens in a small space. There isn't much to do other than reducing the number of chickens or keep them confined in a run.
6 chickens usually need 1/4 of an acre to respect grass. They will still make dirt bath holes though.
