Chickens that dont like treats

my silkies dont like treats...they will not eat them i try and give them plenty of variety but noooo all they want is the stinkin chicken food... phewey on them.. more for my egg layers

I think it just takes them some time to try new things. Our 13 week old chickens still will not try anything the first time. They look at it, shake their heads, and walk away! Eventually, they will at least try something. Ours only like cooked oatmeal, plain yogurt, bird food (millet and sunflower seeds), and scratch grains. They have turned their beaks up at watermelon, tomatoes, apples, cabbage, lettuce, earthworms, cucumbers, and a bunch of other stuff they are "supposed" to love! Oh well! It kinda takes the fun out of it, huh?
