I have 3 Buff Orpingtons and 2 White Plymouth rocks that are 16 weeks old. They never seemed to peep or cluck. They sound like old men grumbling amoung each other and the smallest Buff, Agnes, sounds like she is, well, quacking! Just like a duck. Sorta reminds me of a kid with a cold if you want to know the truth. This is not new. I noticed it when she was a tiny chick. They do make pretty sounds like morning doves, but none ever seem to cluck. Is this the norm for some chickens or will they change? It is comical tho, especially when they see butterflies around the out side of the run. They 'follow' them along the fence and just grumble!
