Ancona (chicken): when will she start laying?

It makes me super impatient thinking in months. A week seems short to me so even when I say 4 weeks it seems somewhat reasonable but when I say a month it just feels like an eternity. Maybe I am just weird

But the weeks add up to so many more! 🤣

5.5 months old (a little over 22 weeks) and still no eggs. She sure is pretty, though!

Updates pics of my Ancona. She's still teasing me. No eggs!

Her comb is crazy big! I call her my fashionable Italian.

my Ancona started laying late, and takes random breaks in the winter (I'm in GA) while my other girls keep laying. She also has long molts, 2 months with no eggs and her beautiful giant comb shrivels up to a pale worm lol. But she's beautiful!
Thank you! That's good to know! I purchased 12 chicks and the hatchery goes "bakers dozen! Choose another one for free!" And when I asked her opinion she said the Ancona was their new breed so I said sure! She's definitely a "look but don't touch" kind of girl.

Mine is a bit flighty also. I got her because they are known for never going broody and are heat tolerant.

Hey there!

I have some pullets of various breeds but same age- 2 days short of 16 weeks old.

My Ancona is the smallest but she also seems to have the reddest comb and wattle and I read the breed tends to lay early but I can't find any info on average point-of-lay. Can anyone with Anconas tell me when yours started to lay? Here's a pic for reference of her behind my Barred Rock.

Thanks again!
My 2 Anconas started laying at 18 weeks, with the first ones being laid on December 19, 2024. As of today they are still laying little tiny eggs.
