The hole for the elbows is pretty tight so no need to secure them. I just put caulking on the outside. I used 90degree elbows just had to cut them down so they are about 3/4 of an inch off the bottom of the bucket. I fill the bucket with no problems with the elbows as they eat more food trickles in the opening of the elbow at the bottom. Hope I answered all your questions if not PM me.
