chickens, turkeys & ducks, oh my

Welcome to BackYard Chickens. Thank's for Sharing the picture's your Duck's are Beautiful! And a Big Hello from Eastern Nebraska.
hello to you in Nebraska. Do you know SandHill Preservation center in Iowa? They have some cool poultry and 300 varieties of sweet potatoes?
Welcome to BYC!! 😊
hello!

Hello, and thanks for a great introduction. For some reason, in my experience, communal duck nests have resulted in very poor % hatches.
Too true. I tried to separate them but that was another disaster. Turkeys and chicken broodies are Waaaay easier. Here is one of my great Dark Cornish moms with her two Narragansett poults last May. I gave away my last mated pair of Narrs to a friend a few years back and she gave me some fertile eggs. Gave 4 eggs to this girl - two ended up clears, so infertile - and she did the rest.

Welcome to BYC! Your Welshies are so cute.
Have you considered getting an incubator and hatching eggs yourself?
I have an incubator but I am no good with it. My broody turkeys and chickens have done such a great hassel free job for me in the past, and there is nothing worse than trying to tease an egg bound chick out of the shell wreckage. My new Silver Apple Yard ducks are hatching out some eggs right now - again, in a communal nest - *sigh*. Second time is the charm, I hope?
