chickens turning mean?

i "peck them back"... i know it sounds weird, but i just poke them (not really hard) with my finger if they peck me. I do it to "put them in their place" and show them whose boss...

I noticed that mine started pecking a little harder at this age (4 months), but never hard enough to draw blood. My response was to squawk. Instead of pushing/kicking them away, I yelled "ouch" when they pecked me. I guess it startled them but I have never had any of them peck me hard again. This is the same response they give when another chicken pecks them so they understand this. They are curious and will peck to investigate, but it is up to you to let them know when it is too hard.

I only get bit by Luna if she thinks I'm to close to stealing the golf balls she's sitting on in the nest box.
