Chickens vs. Neighbor Kids

I have an akc registered, full blooded, 120 pound, black lab named Ranger. Allot of people are scared of him but he wouldn't hurt a fly.I saw something on animal planet called dogs 101 it said not all black labs meet up to standards, I was thinking that explains Ranger, he's lazy, and he has never been in the water besides when he gets a bath, if you throw a ball he'll just look at you like he's saying seriously.

sorry about your neibor issues you should have called the cops for trespas n steeling your eggs survalance systems are pretty cheap investment

This is in the predators post and I usually say to serve it with a side of gravy but I am sure gravy will not even make kids taste good. Lol. I would think that teaching them may be the way about it. Most kids probably dont even know what chickens look like anymore.

...and that's why we have three padlocks on the run door and the chickens are never out of the run unless my DH and/or I are home. Prior to getting chickens, we have several "neighborhood kids" who would often cut through our yard to get to one of the hoodlums homes. Putting up signs didn't work, in fact, one kid had the gall to pull a sign up by the stake and then run over to our garden and stab it through one of our squash seedlings (destroying it). What stopped the little <insert your favorite expletive here> was when we sent a video of them doing that to the cops. They hadn't realized we'd install security cams; sure got their attention!

I've had some trouble with neighborhood kids as well. I tried the route of involving them and teaching them about the birds.

Then I caught them calling the most tame one by name to come out to the road. . . . . and leading her off. . . . . . .cause they thought it was cute that she knew her name and would answer to it

Yeah, not so happy about that! Now we are always "busy" when they want to help with the chickens and we take headcounts of birdies several times a day. This family was on pretty shaky ground with us anyway since their dog tried to eat our cat - in our yard - on the second or third day we lived here! Not the first impression that you want to make with animal loving me
