chickens walking on stones

when i get some chicken there coop may be on stones like this

will that be ok or will it hurt them do we need to get rid of them or do we need to put a bottem to the coop
 
I probably wouldn't have the stones. It would make cleaning the coop a major pain. Also increases your chances of the chickens getting bumble foot from bruising and cuts. You could put a few inches of sand over the stones.At least I'd think that would work. I use shavings because of the cold climate I live in. But I've heard that people use it.
 
yeah i read a topic where they put sand in runs so im trying to find out whether you can have it in coops

I use pea gravel in the pen. It rinses and drains well and is smooth and easy on their feet. They are not on it long, since they are out in the yard all day.
