I bought ready to lay pullets 2 weeks ago. They have not started laying but on sunny days they want to stay in the coop. On rainy days they want to stay outside all day. Should I close up the coop on sunny days so they can get the necessary light needed?. They have protection from aerial predators, fencing from land predators and they have shade underneath the coop.

I am really not sure about your question, but I know it will not hurt them to be put up when it rains, and they will eventually go out when the sun is shining!

When I moved my chicks out to the coop last year I locked them inside for a couple days so they would know that was their home. After a couple days they were slow to come out. Do you have a metal roof on the coop that makes alot of noise when it rains? Anyway I'm sure in a couple weeks they will be acting normal.
