Chickens water freezing

Honestly, since for you (assuming you mean Corpus Christi TX) this is just a brief cold snap rather than a season-long thing, BY FAR the most sensible thing is to just bring them fresh liquid water once or twice a day. In a bucket or bowl if necessary (it is OK to the plastic waterers freeze, at least up to a point, but if you have the galvanized metal vacuum-style waterers they should NEVER be let freeze if full b/c it can irreparably bust 'em). Really, I know it sounds overly simple but it works quite well

Good luck, have fun,

If you want to spend the money, the heated base used with a double walled galvanized waterer works perfect but you have to have electric.

This is a constant battle here in Ontario. As long as they have access to fresh water a couple of times a day they will be fine. Plastic water trays are best when temperatures dip as you can easily knock the frozen block out of them.

Got a metal cookie tin? Make one:

Around here the waterers freeze maybe a dozen times a year. I have electric in the coop but I just take some hot water down around 7 or 8 AM and pour it in the part of the waterer they drink from; I only carry half a gallon. Haven't had to do more than this yet because it warms up above freezing pretty quickly.

I just take warm water out twice a day every day, and they've been fine. As a matter of fact, the water in the barn doesn't even freeze unless it gets pretty cold.

Honestly, like someone else said if by "Corpus Christi" you mean Texas. Just take them water a couple times today and you'll be back to not having to worry about it again in no time. No sense spending money on something you have no real extended need for.
