I installed a britetap chicken waterer for my six 6mo to 1yr birds. I had purchased it to keep the stress level down due to hot water and to try and save me from having to change water twice a day. Unfortunately they act like they have no idea what to do with it!

Does anyone else use this nipple style system? If so how do you get them to drink from it? The reviews and videos rave about how simple it is to get them to use this system. I have held their beaks to it to show them and the most I can get them to do is peck at the clear plastic that they can see the water inside of.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

There are many many threads here about getting your birds to drink on a nipple water system. All the answers to your questions have already been answered and it would take much more time to type it all up again then it would to search around some of the other threads about teaching birds how to drink on nipple waterers. The one most important thing you have to do is remove any other source of water, especially the one they have been used to drinking from.

The britetap system is no different from any of the others when it comes to teaching the birds how to use it, so don't worry about that.

I put mine out in the run and tapped it with my finger. Took about 15 seconds for the first bird to come over and try it out...few seconds later several more tried it. No other water source in the run when I did this and they had been drinking out of a fountain waterer since they hatched.
