I have 6 chickens (2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Brahmas, 2 Ameraucanas) that are 2 years old now. Back in November, my egg production went from 5-6 per day down to 1 per day. 7 months later, still no change in egg production. I use artificial light all winter long, I use a layer feed, lots of scrap produce, I let them run around the yard, and have even been giving them milk. All of them seem to have very high energy, but just not producing. The only one producing is one of my Rhode Island Reds, but some of the others will jump into the hen box but not lay eggs (I have sat and watched for hours to no avail). Does anyone have an idea what to do in this situation? I am getting tired of having to buy eggs when I should be getting them daily!
