Is there a way to teach chickens to scratch. I have a tractor for them to be in the garden to pick bugs and seeds. But the pullets I raised Just stand around all day.
My banties work the ground real well , but they are aging out.
The pullets are white leg horn and red sex Link. I thought all chickens would scratch for what they could find.
I tryed throwing some corn on the ground inside the tractor but after the corn was gone nothing.
That is the reason I got the chickens was to pick weed seeds out of the soil.
Any help Appreciated.

Try using smaller grain like oats, wheat or millet and put something they would have to push aside to get it like straw or hay. Are they where they can see the banties work, might make them curious to see what the banties were after.

I assume you move tractor daily or nearly so. Use some grain as suggested by Denn in Penn but scatter is about on ground just before you move tractor over it. Birds will scratch for it. With respect the feed used, apply it as a ration. Generally speaking birds will consume more than they need for good although not maximal growth.
